Bus Safety is Important, but it can be Fun too!
Kids are just Littler People and your thoughts, fears, and opinions do matter to me..............................
SO SHOW YOUR PRIDE THIS IS YOUR RIDE!

a funny school bus driver song and some really cool bus videos, I am always looking for new stuff to keep it interesting

Fun Times On Bus 180

September 26, 2008
To My Bus 180 Young'uns,
I really enjoyed getting to drive you all home today. Yeah I miss you all too and I am glad that you all
miss me. I guess I really miss my elementary babies the most, because I have had many of them for the last six years. Since
Kindergarten and I am the only driver they have ever had and I don't get to see them every afternoon like I do my middle schoolers.
So I really liked all the hugs I got from them today too. Their teacher that usually rides with them is out due to surgery
right now so Jim really has his hands full for the next couple weeks. They are a full load with lots of little ones, but they
are good kids. I am proud of them all.
I didn't just leave you either and I never really will because 180 will always be MY BUS and MY YOUNG'UNS just as it
has been for the last thirteen years, but you all know my grandbaby BOOGA and well he started school this year. Yeah kindergarten
already and so I am driving 194 now so that I can drive him home everyday. I have also met some more really nice kids on there
too and I hope that in time they will learn to love me as you all have. I love you all, your all the best and are all
my BUS YOUNG'UNS.
Love, Mrs. Donna

comment: Bus 194, I just wanted to tell those of you who take pride in your ride and today listened to
your driver, your principle and officers just how proud I am of you all. I also want to offer you and your parents
my sincerest apologies for our terrible delay today. I know how important it is to have our children home on time and how
worried we get when they aren't. I hope that after talking with your children you understand that I used my many years
of experience and training to make a difficult decision, and decided that I simply could not deliver them safely under the
circumstances and did everything I could do from calling the principle, who told me to call police as the situation was
purely out of hand even after officers arrived. Unfortunately some children today think NO ONES RULES OR LAWS APPLY
TO THEM. Most of the kids on this bus are great and respect the rules, each other and authority. Unfortunately there
are a few who think they are above the rest of us and those rules and laws don't apply to them. When you are one adult
to nearly 60 teens and 8 or 9 of them decide to start riotous behavior, ( half bus screaming obscenities at you in heavy
traffic) startling you while bouncing about like monkeys in a circus act, and your bus is making noises you can barely
hear. What would you do? Now calling the school or police is not your first choice as it brings pressure on your head. But
as I looked at all my good kids and assessed the situation with parents having been called and on their way, which put me
under attack in an already stressful situation, I called the school and they told me to call police when the students refused
to obey the principle. You must know that most of the children were cooperative and ready to go home it was only about
7 or 8 who refused to obey driver, principle or even uniformed officers. This is why I had no choice, because all of
those minding deserved to get home safely even if it was late, the alternative was to risk their safety for some
who refused to obey the simplist rules. I still apologize to all my good students and I want you to understand how
proud I am of you and I know you each and everyone even if I haven't yet learned your names.
Mrs. Donna
UPDATE:
Well the whole matter has been solved and I have been proven to have done things just as I am supposed to do them
in such a situation, but I have decided that I just no longer wish to drive the bus. I will continue my efforts to improve
bus safety in anyway that I can. I just feel that perhaps it may be time to try something different. I just hope that you
all remember that this is your ride and that you ALL have a right to a safe ride. Show your pride it is your ride. Listen
to your driver and treat them with the respect and courtesy they deserve and expect to get that in return. Also report to
your Parents, Teachers and Principles any of the other students who you feel are endangering your safety in anyway.
Have a safe and fun Holiday Season!
May 2009
AHHH yeah summer vaction is merely days away and you just can't wait. Proms, field days, yearbook signing, crying
tears of goodbye and making plans for summer fun and vacations, great anticipation as to what the next several weeks might
hold in store for you. While your out there reinventing yourselves for the new year, having fun in the sun I want you
to also remember to be safe. Watch before crossing the street, avoid strangers, follow the pool rules ( they are important
and are to keep you safe not spoil your fun), use sunscreen or tanning lotions, suntans are desired and fashionable, but
bad sunburns give the opposite effect and heat stroke is real and can kill so drink fluids lots of water guys. For more really
good ideas how to be safe this summer check out the linked sites I have found on keeping you safe all the time. They are on
my links page. Whether I drive again next year or not I will still be here and as you all know I still have eyes and
ears all among you so I will know and report on how its going next year. By the way my youngest is Graduating on
May 14th so we are very proud and excited about that as well as my youngest grandson starting Kindergarten too. I will
keep updating my bus scenario's, accident pics for your comments, and the bus game will be here too or just stop
by guest book and fill me in on your summer when it's raining or your just bored. LOL! HAVE A GREAT AND SAFE SUMMER
KIDS!

December 2009
Hey there kids, I know you are all excited about the Holiday Season and looking forward to winter break and
playing in the snow and all that great stuff as are we. A new year is just around the corner and as most adults I have
been thinking about changes I want to make in the coming year. When last I wrote I mentioned that I may not
return to driving the bus this last year, and in fact I did not. I have decided to retire from the bus at least until I retire
anyway LOL. The issues of bus safety and your safety and happiness are still in my heart and always will be so I will
continue to update the site. I am not sure just yet exactly what I want to do or what opportunities will come knocking on
my door in the year to come, but I will try to keep in touch and let you know what is going on. Of course I am still
in touch with all my driver friends and the bus kids as well so I still hear what's going on.
I hope you all have a great holiday season and I will write again soon.
